The State of Automation in the Bulk Chemical Industry

Bulk chemical manufacturing is a challenging industry. With little differentiation between products and intense global competition, margins are tight and cost control is mandatory. In this environment, automation serves a dual purpose: it enables innovation in areas that matter to customers, (e.g., delivery time, product consistency, etc.), and it improves cost efficiency throughout the manufacturing process. In November 2016, Chemical Engineering magazine invited subscribers to participate in a web-based survey to help us better understand the challenges they face and how they are prioritizing their investments in automation as well as other areas.
