Synchronised global slowdown led by China hits chemicals outlook

The slowdown in China’s economy, particularly its manufacturing sector, has had profound implications for global chemicals. Growth in Europe is also markedly weaker, and although the US has held up for now – it is starting to show signs of succumbing to the wider trend. Joe Chang, a global editor, gives an outlook on what is expected to be a synchronized global economic growth slowdown in 2019 – a reversal of the upswing seen in 2017 and 2018.
