The chemical sciences should represent our society. Diverse teams produce better science. It is only by drawing talent from the widest range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that we can be sure we are maximizing innovation and creativity in science for the benefit of everyone. A varied range of intellectual approaches, different preferences, identities (both ethnic and gender) and educational and socioeconomic backgrounds is valuable to our community. Teams with diverse interests and complementary skills are much more likely to be able to identify and solve complex problems.
