Changing World Chemistry and Water - The Royal Society

Water provision for a world population that is still growing in numbers while also becoming more urbanised and affluent and living longer is one of the grand challenges of the 21st century. Climate change affecting hydrological cycles around the world in different ways, from catastrophic droughts to widespread flooding, adds to the problems. To cope with these challenges, chemistry can provide innovations in the fields of water analysis, treatment and resource recovery that can make valuable contributions towards improving sustainable water use and supply security around the world. At the 6th Chemical Sciences and Society Symposium (CS3), 40 experts from China, Germany, Japan.

Changing the nature of chemistry

whitePaper | January 30, 2020

Our first pilot plant uses the Dawn technology to convert non-food biomass like wood chips or agricultural waste into industrial sugars and lignin. These sugars are turned into chemical feedstocks to make plastics. Currently, we are building a second demonstration plant, which converts sugar into plant-based mono-ethylene glycol (MEG), which is used in the production of chemicals and plastics. A building block for the production of bioplastics in Chemical Cluster Emmen. It can be used to produce 100% bio-PET.

LATIN AMERICA PETROCHEMICALS AND CHEMICALS 2019

whitePaper | November 27, 2019

In this challenging environment, it is key for petrochemical and chemical producers to be efficient and to manage closely their production and logistics chains. We live in a world of product abundance as a result of the shale gas revolution, so the market will be taken by those who can be the most competitive. In this respect, the region needs to take advantage of its geological potential, with the pre-salt fields in Brazil and Argentina’s Vaca Muerta developments, as well as Mexico’s injection of funds to Pemex to help the state-oil company recover its past grandeur.
