CHEMICAL COMPANIES SUPPORT EFFORTS TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
For decades, a class of chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, were used widely in air-conditioners and refrigerators, as well as in aerosol sprays and cleaning products. However, CFCs deplete the ozone layer, and the Montreal Protocol agreement in 1987 led to a phase out of these chemicals. CFCs were replaced with hydroflurocarbons or HFCs, but now chemical companies are taking the lead to phase out HFCs as well to further address environmental concerns. READ MORE
