Researchers have developed an environmentally-friendly method that could turn plastic waste into valuable chemicals by using artificial sunlight. Researchers converted the plastic into “formic acid” in just six days, which can be used in power plants to generate electricity. Researchers claim this method as cost-effective and environment-friendly and hoping to carry out this process in natural sunlight. However, they have only converted small amounts of plastic into formic acid but implementing this process on a bigger scale would be more challenging.
