THYSSENKRUPP TO SUPPLY NEW COKE-OVEN BATTERY TO ARCELORMITTAL IN BRAZIL

thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG (Essen, Germany; www.thyssenkrupp-industrial-solutions.com) has recently won a contract from ArcelorMittal to supply a new coke battery for the Tubarão steel plant, located in the Espirito Santo state in southeastern Brazil. The new coke battery will replace an existing one thus ensuring the production of 600,000 ton/yr of coke. “This order is a further important milestone in the close and longstanding partnership with our customer ArcelorMittal,” says Paulo Alvarenga, CEO of thyssenkrupp South America. “We have been working together in various projects for more than 15 years and are happy to again contribute our experience gained in building hundreds of coking plants worldwide. Just like our customer, we thereby attach particular importance to environmental protection. To reduce coke oven emissions to a minimum, we will integrate the latest environmental technologies into the new system.”
