Solvias acquires Chemic Laboratories In Order to Establish a Laboratory Presence in the United States and Expand Testing Services

Solvias, one of the biggest independent analytical testing, contract research, development, and manufacturing companies, announced today the acquisition of Chemic Laboratories, Inc., headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts (Chemic). Solvias gains a solid footing in the United States and highly complementary laboratory testing capabilities as a result of this acquisition.

Based in Boston's biopharmaceutical sector, Chemic increases Solvias' global footprint and offers integrated testing and analytical services. Solvias and Chemic, as one organization:

support 650+ pharmaceutical corporations, biotech businesses, emerging ATMP companies, as well as a medical device and cosmetics companies;

operate nearly 225,000 square feet of laboratory space in Switzerland, France, and the United States in accordance with the highest industry standards, including ISO, cGMP, and GLP;

offer an extensive suite of analytical services including chemical and physical characterization, quality control, microbiology, and cell biology testing and stability testing;

provide combined areas of strengths in synthesis, catalysis, and extractable and leachable testing;

employ more than 600 people possessing deep scientific and technical expertise, with a significant number holding advanced academic degrees.

Chemic is Solvias' first acquisition since establishing a strategic partnership with Water Street Healthcare Partners and JLL Partners in June 2020. Since then, Solvias has recruited industry heavyweights to its board of directors and begun a program to significantly upgrade and extend its information technology platform and infrastructure in preparation for future global expansion. The company is looking for organic investments and acquisitions to develop specialized capabilities to help clients in the growing areas of biologics and cell and gene therapies.

The acquisition's financial terms are not being disclosed.
