Real Organic Project moves on with efforts to create an add-on organic label

The Real Organic Project (ROP) is moving on with efforts to create a new, add-on label for products derived through what the group says are more traditional organic methods than those reflected in USDA’s current organic label. A group of organic farmers and advocates dissatisfied with the direction of the National Organic Program (NOP), ROP says it wants to restore transparency and trust in the organic label and has now released a proposal for seven foundational standards that organic producers would have to meet to take advantage of the new label.
