Polysciences plans to Launch a New Brand for Its Bioprocessing Products

Polysciences plans
Polysciences, Inc., which makes specialized chemicals for research, IVD, and medical devices, plans to create a new brand called Kyfora Bio to represent its bioprocessing product line.

With the development of more-advanced biotherapies and other vital products, bioprocessing (a crucial component of manufacturing and delivering these therapies and products to people) is becoming more critical than ever.

Bioprocessing is a process of producing valuable goods from live organisms, usually cell components or cells, viruses, or even complete organisms. End products can range from biofuels derived from algae to penicillin-like drugs derived from mold. Yeast-brewed beer is also an example of bioprocessing.

Given the variety of bioprocessing applications and the complexity of the stages involved, this topic necessitates expertise in many areas of science, such as chemistry, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical engineering.

Kyfora Bio will focus on making cationic polymers and other materials used in nucleic acid delivery, such as lipids for gene therapies and cells. Polysciences has a lot of experience in developing and making polymers, monomers, microspheres, and specialty reagents for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

Kyfora Bio will occupy a 45,000-square-foot cGMP building with administrative offices, manufacturing suites, R&D laboratories, and quality control laboratories for chemical and biological performance testing in Horsham, Pennsylvania. The new location is a short drive from Polysciences' 250,000-square-foot campus in Warrington, Pennsylvania, which acts as the company's headquarters and contains manufacturing, R&D, quality assurance/quality control, and product storage facilities.
