NJ cites major chemical companies for pollution, expects costs to reach ‘hundreds of millions’ of dollars

In a directive issued Monday, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection says five chemical companies, including DowDuPont and 3M, are on the hook for millions of dollars to clean PFAS chemicals from the state’s environment. New Jersey has issued a directive to five major chemical companies, demanding compensation for what it expects will be “hundreds of millions” of dollars in costs relating to per- and polyfluroalkyl substances, or PFAS.
