JGC AWARDED HIGH-PERFORMANCE SYNTHETIC-RESIN PRODUCTION PLANT PROJECT IN THAILAND

JGC Corp. (Yokohama, Japan; www.jgc.com) has been awarded the contract for the construction of chemical plants that will be the foundation of a high-performance synthetic-resin manufacturing and sales undertaking in Thailand involving Kuraray Co., Ltd., PTT Global Chemical Public Co. (PTTGC) and Sumitomo Corp. The project involves several plants, including the following: A manufacturing plant for butadiene-derived products, including a 13,000 ton/yr unit for high-heat-resistant polyamide resin (PA9T) and plant with capacity of 16,000 ton/yr of hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers (HSBC); and a plant for manufactuting isobutylene derived products, producing 5,000 ton/yr of 3-methyl-1,5-pentanediol.
