FMC Corporation named ACC Responsible Care Company of the Year

FMC Corporation was honored by the American Chemistry Council as the Responsible Care Company of the Year, an award recognizing FMC for its excellence and leadership in environmental, health, safety and security performance. It is the fourth time since 2017 that FMC has been named ACC Responsible Care Company of the Year.

FMC is among the safest companies in the chemical industry. In 2021, the company achieved a record-low recordable injury rate of 0.066, which can be attributed to a culture of safety that extends to non-manufacturing employees through a global program called TH!NK SAFE. The program helps all employees, whether they work in an office, lab, field or production facility, to understand and apply the fundamentals of safety.

MSA Safety Unveils New Line of Firefighter Protective Clothing at Interschutz

MSA Safety Incorporated a global leader in firefighter safety equipment and technology, marked the opening of Interschutz 2022 with the unveiling of a new line of firefighter protective clothing (FPC) that is specifically designed to meet the needs of firefighters in Germany, the Netherlands and across continental Europe, offering enhanced comfort and compatibility with MSA's advanced safety equipment and solutions. Called the MSA® Bristol X4, the new line of FPC integrates MSA Bristol's expertise in creating high-performance protective clothing with MSA's market-leading experience in firefighting technologies and connected solutions. The X4 jacket features an integral belt, lanyard and carabiner that can be easily accessed via a pocket and flap. The Drag Rescue Device, accessed from the upper back of the jacket and via a pocket near the knee, can be used to carry or pull a downed firefighter to safety in an emergency. In the Netherlands, firefighters expressed the need for stronger kneepads for comfort when crawling or operating in confined spaces, and special reflective elements for additional visibility. To address this customer preference, MSA Bristol designers incorporated ergonomic shaping and a streamlined fit, reducing bulk and weight, all while maintaining full range of motion. Jason Traynor, General Manager of MSA's Global Fire Service Products, noted that with the launch of the new X4 line, MSA is now able to provide a full line of fire service products to firefighters Germany, the Netherlands and throughout continental Europe. KIRCO Announces Completion of Wacker Chemical Corporation NCA Innovation Center and Regional Headquarters in Ann Arbor

KIRCO announced the development and construction completion of Wacker Chemical Corporation's new Innovation Center and Regional Headquarters in Ann Arbor. WACKER – a pioneer and global leader in chemical R&D and manufacturing – held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening last week, which was attended by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, along with several other state, county and township officials. Covering 18 acres at 4950 S. State Rd., the technology campus serves as the hub of leadership and innovation for WACKER's North and Central Americas (NCA) region. The center currently houses more than 200 team members, including the company's NCA senior leadership team, the region's leading chemists, IT and other technical experts, along with support functions. WACKER partnered with KIRCO as their developer and contractor, leading the journey through site selection, design, capitalization and construction. The 140,000 square-foot campus broke ground in late 2020, and despite commencing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, WACKER team members moved in 19 months later. The more than $50 million investment allows WACKER chemists, scientists and senior leadership, who previously worked out of separate Michigan locations, to collaborate and innovate in a single, dynamic environment. Equally important, the facility provides room for the growth expected by the global leader in silicones, polymers, polysilicon and biosolutions. The innovation center includes world-class labs, a full-service cafeteria, a 24/7 fitness center and open collaborative workspaces. BLUE WATER PETROLEUM CORP ACQUIRES 160 ACRE FACILITY IN LITTLE SMOKY, ALBERTA, CANADA

Blue Water Petroleum Corp announces that it has acquired 160 contiguous acres in Little Smoky, Alberta, Canada. The property is currently being used as a testbed and eventually will become a full-service facility for Blue Water. The facility processes oilfield wastewater using its licensed technology, into water that can be released into the environment and used for farming purposes; all in compliance with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s guidelines. Blue Water has partnered with Hawkridge Water Solutions Inc. and as of July 25th 2022, has exclusively licensed HWS’s wastewater and cavitation system and will be constructing a commercially operational facility on the Little Smoky, Alberta property. In these initial stages of the test, Blue Water receives deliveries of wastewater at the Little Smoky processing facility and is paid $8.00 CAD for each cubic meter it receives from its partner, Base Element Energy for the length of this pilot. The intent is to prove concept, scalability, and financial viability. Once the pilot is completed a Provisional Patent will be filed in North America. The raw produced water will be stored and measured according to all Alberta Energy Regulator guidelines on the Property location. The wastewater goes through three purification processes Firstly the gels, polymers are removed using the acid/base solution that is required to separate out the honeycomb structures. From that solution any hydrocarbons are released that can be recaptured. Secondly, water with no gels that could foul the membranes in a Reverse Osmosis process take the dissolved solids (mostly salts and chlorides) from the water. The backwash water is diluted with a Fresh Water tank and reintroduced back with the first process. Thirdly, the water goes through a smaller cavitation system and through mixing valves. We introduce outside air fed from an air compressor system at 150 psi, before flowing through the mixing valves in the cavitation chamber. This air oxygenates the water because of cavitation the water molecules are very small and accept the air structure as they are naturally attracted. Now water can be flowed to our test vegetation area with continuous testing prior to being released for local wildlife and grazing cattle. Our business strategy is to provide customized systems that are built to the customer’s specifications and can process 2500 m3 per unit in a 24 hour period. Systems of this capacity retail for approximately $2,000,000 CAD.
