EU considers implementing Regulation on REACH authorisation changes

"The EU is considering drafting an implementing Regulation to clarify that companies may need to apply for a review of their authorisation decisions if they increase their use of authorised substances. In a paper submitted to a meeting of the Competent Authorities for REACH and CLP (Caracal) on 19-20 March, the Commission said it was considering the move because it had been made aware of two cases where the authorisation holder increased the amount of the substance used above that indicated in the application. In one case, it said, the changes included an additional task that was not covered in the exposure scenarios in the chemical safety report (CSR)."
