Chemicals manufacturer FAR Chemical to expand Florida facility

US-based fine and speciality chemicals manufacturer FAR Chemical has announced its plans to expand its facility in Palm Bay, Florida, with an undisclosed investment to meet the growing demand. FAR produces fine and speciality chemicals such as brominated compounds, organometallics, pyrophoric materials, and the distribution of trimethylchlorosilane. Its speciality chemicals are used in end markets such as pharmaceuticals, coatings, adhesives, sealants, composites, flavours and fragrances. FAR has decided to expand its plant as it stands to benefit from more secure domestic supply chains for these raw materials, in addition to recent investments by new ownership. Last year, FAR was purchased by CPS Performance Materials from Edgewater Capital Partners. FAR Chemical was merged with CPS’ speciality chemicals division. Late last year, the production capacity at the Palm Bay facility was increased by 40%. Further expansion will add equipment and workforce by more than 50% to support round-the-clock operation. CPS Performance Materials CEO Jeremy Steinfink said: “As we continue to build our Speciality Chemicals business, we will not only be expanding capacity but also adding new capabilities necessary for the increasingly specialised needs of our customers.
