CABOT TO SIGNIFICANTLY EXPAND GLOBAL CARBON-BLACK PRODUCTION CAPACITY

Cabot Corp. announced the addition of significant capacity to its worldwide network of carbon black plants. Through the combination of a plant expansion, operational improvements, and debottlenecking projects, Cabot is expanding its global capacity by over 300,000 metric tons/year (m.t./yr). Bart Kalkstein, senior vice president, and president, Reinforcement Materials, said, “This program will allow Cabot to continue to serve the growing needs of our customers worldwide with our industry-leading carbon black products. With our plants operating at high utilization levels, these investments will enable us to maintain our position as a leader in the carbon black industry and to offer our customers the security of reliable supply and availability of premium products that they have come to expect from Cabot.”
