Air Products results driven by higher volumes

Air Products reported second-quarter net income from continuing operations increased 36.8% year-over-year to $416.4 million. Sales were up 9% YOY, to $2.2 billion due to high volumes and favorable currency. Adjusted earnings rose 20% YOY to $1.71/share, beating analysts' consensus estimate of $1.68/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Sales in the Americas region rose 3% YOY to $913 million, driven by higher hydrogen and merchant gases volumes. Adjusted EBITDA also increased 3% YOY to $362 million on higher volumes.
