REACH 2018 Assess hazards and risks of your chemicals

This is the fourth webinar in a series focusing on practical information to successfully register by the deadline of 31 May 2018. If you are registering a substance for the first time and you do not know what information you need to submit, you will find this webinar particularly useful. The webinar will give you an understanding of the type of data you need to collect for the tonnage you want to register. It will also highlight what you should do before generating new data for your substance. Finally, it will give an overview of how to fill in the data gaps, and how the other co-registrants are involved in this common activity.

Bring in the New or Déjà Vu ? Adventures in Chemical Engineering History Part II

aiche.org

To kick off the 2019 New Year, we’ll reflect on a few lessons, still relevant today, from technological progress in the past. Like us, our forbearers faced political, social, and economic challenges, and, like us, they looked to science for solutions. Along the way, they made amazing discoveries but they also hit brick walls. Then, as now, even the most amazing technological discoveries have a habit of requiring long residence times in developmental stages (often awaiting other discoveries) before they emerge as useful (often in surprising applications) which are now simply taken for granted.

Chemistry & the Economy: 2019 Outlook

acs

The chemical industry is finding itself challenged on multiple fronts and the idea that the industry is entering a state of global recession is now becoming a consensus view. Geopolitically, the uncertainty surrounding the UK leaving the EU is looming, with a “hard Brexit” looking more likely. Tariffs between the US, China and other countries are continuing to escalate. Join us for our twice-annual look at the economy with Paul Hodges of International eChem and Bill Carroll of Carroll Applied Science for an update of what has been affecting the chemical market and what companies can do to adapt to this changing world in 2019.

Environmental Toxicology

Center for Public Health Workforce Development

The environmental toxicology webinar presents the principles and fundamental concepts of toxicology, including the mechanisms of toxicity produced by chemical substances on living organisms and humans. It defines the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) process and how it relates to understanding the toxicological effects of environmental substances. The webinar also discusses how toxicology is important in risk assessment and the development of environmental regulations that enforce acceptable exposure levels.
