Chemical Management audit: What to expect?

This webinar will cover the important basic aspects of safe handling and use of compressed gas cylinders. The program will focus on key elements regarding cylinder receiving, transport, storage, and safe handling in the facility and/or laboratory. Federal regulations will be covered, including regulations from DOT, OSHA, and others (NFPA). Cylinder ID requirements, determining hydrostatic test dates and proper shipping on public roads will be addressed.

Determining the absolute configuration of small molecules is important early in the drug discovery process. The traditional methodology, X-ray analysis, requires a single crystal. Unfortunately, crystallisation of early-stage molecules can be problematic and time consuming.

Leachable compounds are currently only evaluated on the toxicological risk they pose to the patient. The effects that leachable compounds have on the quality and safety of pharmaceutical drug products, especially protein drug products, is often overlooked. Interactions of reactive leachable compounds with protein drug products can lead to a loss of efficiency, decrease of stability and increased immunogenicity in the patient population at risk. This webinar describes reactive leachable compounds, the scientific basis to predict leachable-protein interactions and a proof of concept.

Although facility with mathematics is often central to understanding chemistry, little work has been done to explore the nature of this in undergraduate students. This study sought to investigate how students integrate chemistry and mathematics during problem solving in chemical kinetics, a disciplinary context that has also received little attention in the literature.
