Cefic, CIA update Brexit no-deal briefing note

Chemical Watch | January 29, 2019

Cefic and the UK’s Chemical Industries Association have updated their joint briefing note containing advice for companies in the event of Britain leaving EU REACH after Brexit. It was published just days before MPs vote on amendments to British prime minister Theresa May's deal on 29 January. Two weeks earlier, MPs rejected the deal by 432 votes to 202 – the largest UK government defeat in recent history. Opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn immediately called for a vote of no-confidence in the government, which Ms May narrowly survived. Defeat would have likely spelled a general election. The original briefing note was published shortly after the UK government published its no-deal Brexit technical notice for the chemicals industry.
