Olyns Creates an Elegant and Convenient Solution to Increase Plastic Recycling

Olyns | July 29, 2021

Olyns, a global leader in technology-driven recycling solutions, announced the release of a new bottle collection machine intended for high-traffic indoor areas. The innovative system offers a simple method for consumers to redeem bottle deposits while receiving rewards through a mobile app to encourage plastic recycling. The technique also helps in the removal of obstacles associated with the collection and transportation of recyclables. PepsiCo collaborated with Olyns earlier this year to create a trial program in one Safeway store, which has expanded to gather about 1,000 containers each day, or roughly 30 customers per day depositing. In addition, Olyns machines are now available at Safeway stores in Milpitas (#1879) and Santa Clara (#1990). A single Olyns machine can compress and store over 1,000 plastic bottles, 850 aluminum cans, and 50 glass bottles each year, producing over 1.5 metric tons of pure recycled PET. The eye-catching, clean, and odorless machine also functions as a media platform, with a 65-inch full-motion glass HD video display, providing advertisers with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to reach consumers. The Olyns bottle collection machine crushes and separates materials to complete transactions, employs AI-image recognition for dynamic deposit returns, and employs touchless NFC login through the Olyns mobile app. In addition, Olyns may refund customers via the Olyns app through Paypal for every container they deposit in a machine in the ten-bottle bill states (states having bottle deposit laws to promote recycling). Olyns machines are unique in that they are maintained by members of the gig economy, who use the Olyns mobile app to get "empty machine" alerts and pick up and transport deposited containers to recycling centers. Olyns machines also serve as a media platform, assisting in further consumer recycling incentives and company growth. Eighty-eight percent of customers want businesses to help them live more sustainably, providing a chance for brands to engage this audience during their recycling experience. The dual-purpose displays can broadcast inspiring content to promote the importance of recycling while also serving as a powerful advertising network, communicating with millions of customers, and influencing purchase decisions at points of sale. About Olyns Olyns develops technology-driven recycling solutions to satisfy the demand for recycled plastic (RPET) and accelerate the transition to a circular plastics economy via a new recycling model that solves the key problems of access, incentive, revenue, and labor. The Olyns recycling platform consists of an elegant bottle collection machine designed for high-traffic indoor locations and a gamified mobile app that offers bottle refunds, rewards, and environmental impact dashboard, and a community leaderboard. Olyns machines are visually appealing, clean, and odorless, and they also serve as a media platform for advertisers. Each machine features a 65-inch full-motion HD video screen that serves as a powerful advertising platform for brands. Gig workers use the Olyns app to collect and transport deposited materials from machines to recycling facilities. In the United States alone, there are around 140,000 indoor places where Olyns machines could be placed. Malls, service stations, transportation hubs, cinemas, stadiums, and corporate campuses are good places for Olyns machines.
