SOCAR Polymer

SOCAR Polymer, the project of international standing, is the first of its kind and scale in the petrochemical industry of Azerbaijan over the past 40 years. SOCAR Polymer was incorporated on July 16, 2013 in order to reinforce development of chemical industry of the country. The company’s production facilities consisting of Polypropylene (PP) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plants are being built on the site of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park (SCIP) . The main goal of establishment of the SCIP is acceleration of economic development of Azerbaijan, increasing competitiveness in comparison with other countries that are leading in terms of development of innovative industries. SCIP supports innovative industrial initiatives by extensive tax exemptions, and provides full infrastructure support and single point approach on all permitting issues.

COVID-19’S IMPACT ON CHEMICAL SUPPLY CHAINS

Article | March 5, 2020

The global COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant impact on chemical supply chains. Here we take a look at some of the chemicals that have been affected: Sanitization products such as Isopropyl Alcohol have experienced skyrocketing demand. Unfortunately, manufacturers are simultaneously dealing with problems that are preventing them from supplying at full capacity. While two US producers are experiencing production issues, another is having trouble with raw material Acetone supply. A fourth US producer is scheduled to restart production of IPA, but this material will take a few weeks to come online. Meeting this unprecedented demand is proving to be a challenge, and prices have increased sharply.

Why chemical characterization is the best way to assess patient risk

Article | March 5, 2020

Everyone is very familiar with the phrase when buying a house: All that really matters are three things - location, location, and location. This same principle applies to extractables and leachables chemistry analysis – the three things that truly matter are identification, identification, and identification. The greatest growth in the past ten years in demonstrating the safety of medical devices and container closure systems for drugs has been using analytical chemistry to determine what chemicals can leach from the device and what the patient is exposed to during its intended use.
