When it comes to shear strength, Chem-Set’s Ultralok line is second to none. But don’t take our word for it – let us show you! In the video below, we put Chem-Set Ultralok to the test to prove its superior shear strength and bonding capabilities. In the video, two pieces of steel bonded together with Chem-Set Ultralok are placed in a machine designed to test shear strength and pull the pieces of metal apart. Once activated, the machine gradually applies more and more force in attempting to pry the steel apart until the adhesive fails.

Coronavirus Impact on Fine Chemical Supply Chain

Article | March 6, 2020

Coronavirus, more accurately referred to as COVID-19, is beginning to impact global supply chains in a tangible way. Although it is impossible to forecast the effect of numerous epidemics worldwide on the fine chemical supply chain specifically, reports suggest that as much as 94% of the Fortune 1000 are already experiencing coronavirus-related supply disruptions. Fortune cites the devastating 2011 tsunami as a case study of how unforeseeable disasters can severely disturb supply chains with far-reaching ramifications. Damage to Mitsubishi Gas Chemical factories in the area affected by the tsunami led to a shortage of bismaleimide triazine (BT) resin; a critical material for electronic substrates.

Why chemical characterization is the best way to assess patient risk

Article | March 6, 2020

Everyone is very familiar with the phrase when buying a house: All that really matters are three things - location, location, and location. This same principle applies to extractables and leachables chemistry analysis – the three things that truly matter are identification, identification, and identification. The greatest growth in the past ten years in demonstrating the safety of medical devices and container closure systems for drugs has been using analytical chemistry to determine what chemicals can leach from the device and what the patient is exposed to during its intended use.

Optimizing chemical production using data-driven, AI-enabled hybrid modeling

Article | March 6, 2020

Smart use of your plant’s data can take process efficiency to a higher level. Hybrid models driven by artificial intelligence deliver the best results for the least effort. And you don’t need a data science degree to enjoy them. Data is everywhere these days – and the volumes of it are growing exponentially all the time. We’re used to smart uses of it in our everyday lives. Like Amazon and Netflix using our past behavior to tempt us with new products or shows, even making them more appealing by tailoring how they look based on carefully constructed, data-driven profiles of our tastes. Much of that heavy lifting is done by artificial intelligence (AI). In chemical production, process control systems have been collecting data measurements during continuous or batch manufacturing for decades.

Chemical Accidents Lead To Increase In Investigations

Article | March 6, 2020

In the last two years, the U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) has launched investigations into seven separate chemical accidents or explosions in the Houston area. Prior to 2018, the CSB only conducted roughly one investigation per year. Investigators believe that the massive increase in accidents which require an investigation by the CSB is due to a variety of factors such as the large number of chemical companies in the Houston area, the age of the infrastructure, and companies being allowed to self-regulate. Many of these explosions and fires have directly led to the deaths of workers, bystanders, millions of dollars in property damage, and the evacuation of tens of thousands of local residents who risk being exposed to toxic chemicals.
