Setting record straight on testing harm in chemicals

Article | February 13, 2020

The modern world is built on chemicals, be it the medicines we use, or cleaning fluids, crop protection products, or the raw materials for everything from laptops and mobile phones to clothes and furniture. Across all, we have created an entire modern society with chemicals, and, as a result, constantly stretched the size of the world population we can feed, clothe and shelter. Euric unveils Waste & chemicals brochure

Article | February 11, 2020

Recyclers have developed state-of-art separation techniques to safely treat a wide diversity of waste streams and recover valuable materials, hence directly contributing to the circular economy. The Brochure published by Euric on ‘Sound Management of Waste & Chemicals Requirements’ highlights the main issues derived from the lack of interface between chemicals, product and waste legislation, and identifies simple solutions to boost the transition towards a more circular economy. Christer Forsgren, Chair of the Euric’s Waste & Chemicals Task Force, Environmental & Technical Director at Stena Metall AB (Sweden), and Adjunct Professor in Industrial Material Recycling at Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg, emphasized the key role that Europe’s recycling industry plays by reducing Europe’s dependency on primary materials and by saving massive amounts of CO2 and energy.

Improving 3D Chemical Visualization of Subsurface Structures

Article | February 19, 2020

A Raman microscope combines a Raman spectrograph and a light microscope to gain chemical and structural information from materials down to the micron scale. Raman spectroscopy observes when the wavelength of light changes as it interacts with a molecule. The different wavelengths seen in Raman scattering can identify and study vibrational, rotational, and bending forces within chemical bonds of a molecule.
