A new research laboratory for pigments, manufactured and marketed under BASF’s global brand Colors & Effects, has been opened in Besigheim, Germany. "Through the complete on-site support and the proximity of production and research, we support the development of our inorganic color pigments as well as the Paliocrom effect pigments," said Alexander Haunschild, SVP of BASF's global pigment business. Before this laboratory opening, the research activities that will be bundled in Besigheim in the future have mainly taken place in Ludwigshafen. "Following the expansion of capacity for bismuth vanadate and Paliocrom effect pigments, the laboratory opening also shows that we regularly invest in the Besigheim site," Haunschild said. In June 2018, the company had announced an increase in production capacity for Paliocrom effect pigments at its Ludwigshafen and Besigheim locations.

Everyone is very familiar with the phrase when buying a house: All that really matters are three things - location, location, and location. This same principle applies to extractables and leachables chemistry analysis – the three things that truly matter are identification, identification, and identification. The greatest growth in the past ten years in demonstrating the safety of medical devices and container closure systems for drugs has been using analytical chemistry to determine what chemicals can leach from the device and what the patient is exposed to during its intended use.
